Brent Keogh is Acting Head of Discipline in Music and Sound Design at the University of Technology, Sydney. His current research interests include music ecology, sonic branding and intercultural composition. Keogh is also a multi-instrumentalist and Australian Music Centre represented composer. He studied the Egyptian oud privately with Joseph Tawadros (AM), classical mandolin with Fiona Horbach and Alon Sariel, and was mentored by composer Tristan Coelho through Ensemble Offspring's Home Hatched Academy. Keogh has recently been commissioned by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) to compose six dances for world plucked string quartet as part of the ABC classic and ABC jazz composer commissioning fund 2021. He has also been commissioned by the Northern Beaches Council of Sydney to compose an original suite for mandola (octave mandolin), flute, cello and tabla. |
